You may be aware that Hythe ECG are preparing for a community orchard on Eaton Lands (Saltwood). As part of this a small group has been active in preparing the site, and a contractor has removed trees and other large items. What we are now finding (as expected) is that the low-growth of brambles and nettles is starting to reappear very vigorously. the best thing would be to reduce / eliminate this as soon as possible, so we need your help.We are planning a large working group (up to say 20 people) for Saturday 23 June. This will be focused on uprooting nettles and brambles, but will also include moving piles of dead-wood and cuttings off the site- it will therefore involve energetic manual labour. We hope to start around 10.00 and finish by 14.00 with some tea / coffee refreshments provided. With a group of 20, we can achieve a great deal which will allow our contractor to come in and help to level up the plot – another important step to laying out the orchard. Please let George Kirby ( georgekirby57@gmail.com) know if you can help – and he will let you have further details for the day.
