A Nature Walk around Hastingleigh looking at birdlife, butterflies, day flying moths, spotting orchids and other wild flowers.

We will be accompanied by Ian Roberts, Dan Tuson and Helen Severs. Ian is a local bird expert who also has a wide knowledge of butterflies, moths and other insects. Dan is a farm conservation advisor for Natural England who is working with farms in the area to improve wildlife and the environment in a Stewardship Scheme. Helen owns one of the farms that we will be walking through, whose fields are being returned to wildflower meadow.

The walk will last 2-3 hrs depending on the weather, what we find and what people want. It is about 3 miles, but will be taken slowly with frequent stops as we spot things. We will have a stop at some point for Dan to explain a little about the Environmental Stewardship Scheme work and results around the area that we are walking.

We will be walking on a mixture of paths and rough meadow. You will need strong boots and appropriate clothes for the weather on the day, long trousers are advised as we will be going through long grass. Sunscreen if we are lucky enough to need it. Please also bring your own refreshments/water/snack to keep you hydrated and the energy level high.

When you book for the event, you will receive joining details. Numbers on the walk are limited so that it is enjoyable for everyone, we don’t leave too much of a footprint and everyone will have easy access to an expert.
