After the successful evening of talks that we hosted from Kent Wildlife Trust on the projects being pursued around the coast and on the Marsh, we have a number of people who would like to come on the “Guardians of the Deep” training (about two hours and no final commitment) and we have someone who is interested in leading the group. If you didn’t come to the talks but are interested in knowing more then please make contact so we can finalise the list and arrange a date for the training.

Guardians of the Deep is a three year Heritage Lottery Funded project which aims to increase people’s awareness of, and engagement with, our local Kent coastline. As part of this they are setting up a network of Coastal Guardians around the Kent coastline. Coastal Guardians are the ‘eyes and ears’ of the coast, helping with recording and reporting wildlife sightings, taking part in beach cleans and other seaside activities, as well as reporting strandings, pollution incidents and illegal activities to the relevant authorities.
