Hythe Environmental CG is all about a community-led approach to making the Hythe area a more fulfilling, sustainable and environmentally aware place to live. We aim to help people reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, reduce excess waste, improve the recycling of what waste they do produce, improve the visual impact of the area and increase their appreciation of the areas flora and fauna.

We have many projects that you can read about here including regular seed and plant swaps, apple press day, home energy surveys, litter-picks, talks, educational films, visits and courses (such as fruit tree grafting and pruning and bee identification,– see photo, right).

We’ve a community orchard on the way. New projects stem from people’s particular areas of interest – if we are not catering to your interest, then let’s see how we can start!

The group has been active for almost ten years, initially under the name of Transition Hythe, as part of the international Transition Network. It has now been rebranded as Hythe Environmental Community Group to focus on practical local community projects.
